THE "Heüge" COLLECTION
Discover the qualities of Mino tableware, which has been supporting the Japanese table for over 20 years. the Japanese dining table for over 1,000 years. 1,000 years, thanks to "Heüge", made using traditional and modern techniques, clay and glaze.
The Mino region is known as Japan's largest ceramics producer.
With a history spanning over 1,000 years, the region has produced a wide variety of ceramics in keeping with the styles of the times.
Among the 15 types of traditional handicrafts, Setoguro, Kiseto, Shino and Oribe are four types of well-balanced colorful pottery that have outlived the name of Mino ceramics.
Inheriting the tradition of Mino tableware from the time when it was called "heuge-mono" (read: hyoge-mono / meaning: something with charm) and popular, we have created vessels that can be used daily on modern dining tables as containers to be passed on to the next generation.
The Heuge series consists of four colors: SHINO, a natural white that melts in the mouth; ORIBE, a deep green with an austere taste; KIZETO, a warm yellowish color; and SETOGURO, a brilliant black.
Each color is available in mugs, teacups, teacups, 5" mukozuke, 5" deep plates and 8" dinner plates.
THE 4 COLORS
SHINO (志野)
This is the first white pottery in Japan, and its smooth white skin is covered with fine penetrations, pinholes, glaze drops and an uneven coating.
It's fair to say that Shino's sturdy, charming appearance and the warmth transmitted by the hand are characteristic.
So that Shino can be used on a wide range of modern tables, we've reduced the number of nuki nuri and surface roughness as much as possible, so that it retains a soft, mellow flavor.
ORIBE (織部)
Oribe pottery was named after Furuta Oribe, a student of Sen no Rikyu who learned the tea ceremony at the Wabicha School of the Tea Ceremony.
Furuta Oribe, who preferred unbridled beauty to tranquil beauty, loved Mino objects, known as "heugeimono", and this Oribe object was born while he was teaching pottery.
Oribe's green color is expressed in different ways depending on the oven.
The somewhat old-fashioned patterns and shades that come to mind when people think of Oribe-yaki have been radically abandoned, and the color of the Oribe has been adapted to correspond more closely to today's eating habits.
KIZETO (黄瀬戸)
As its name suggests, this yellow-glazed vessel has the color of rotting leaves.
The soft yellow of Kizeto gradually changed shape over time, and the lustrous pale yellow that was once expressed by the iron glaze was expressed by the so-called glass glaze, the Ofuke (Ofukui) glaze.
SETOGURO (瀬戸黒)
This pottery from the Momoyama period is also known as "drawer black" or "Tenshokuro" because of the way it was fired and the period in which it was fired.
The glaze is a deep, glossy jet-black, so transparent that it's impossible to recognize the color of the base.
To create a Seto black that can be used in a wide range of modern dining situations, we've used modern formulations and glazing techniques, rather than the same techniques used in the past, to express a true jet black with brilliant shine.
We hope you enjoy the contrast between the unique expression of black in black and the colorful food on the containers.

THE BRAND (craftman) :
Esterbrook has been the preferred pen of many 20th century personalities, such as Presidents Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy. But Esterbrook isn't just about politics: Donald Duck came to life on an Esterbrook No 356 by the famous Disney artist Carl Banks.
Linus and the rest of the Peanuts gang were also drawn by the skilled hand of Charles Schulz exclusively with his trusty Esterbrook fountain pen. Schulz was so attached to Esterbrook that when production of his beloved Radio 914 nib was discontinued, he bought back all the other remaining nibs from the brand and used them for his drawings until the publication of his last comic strip in 2000.
